The Foreword to The Prodigal Band, Self-Published by OmegaBooks in 2018, the Original Version of the Third Novel of The Prodigal Band Trilogy

Below is the original Foreword to the original, copyright 2018 by Deborah Lagarde, version of the third novel of The Prodigal Band Trilogy, The Prodigal Band, which is available as a FREE PDF download at the link in the menu above. It turns out, however, that calling this a ‘Foreword’ was a mistake since I wrote it; Forewords are usually written by another person; a Publisher, an Editor, or a Beta Reader. It should have been called an ‘Introduction.’

Further, Foreword or Introduction, the words below do state the ultimate purpose of the novel and the trilogy as a whole. Cheers!

A new post will arrive next week.

Why Is The Prodigal Band Available As A FREE PDF Download?

Folks, the last time I counted the number of downloads of the FREE PDF The Prodigal Band, the third novel in The Prodigal Band Trilogy, that number exceeded 500! This is not counting the number of downloads prior to July, 2019, when the number of downloads of uploaded files was not recorded by WordPress but the number of visits to the download page was recorded, and there were lots of visits there.

Here  is the link to the page that tells about the third novel The Prodigal Band, including the content of Chapter One, and here is the link to the download site at the top of this page.

But why is The Prodigal Band available as a FREE PDF download? Since the trilogy book published by Lulu is available to be purchased, why just give away the third novel in the trilogy?

The third novel The Prodigal Band is a FREE PDF download because this is the novel that completes the prodigal band’s journey to redemption, whereas the first novel, Battle of the Band, tells of the band’s fall into crises after crises after reaching the goal of fame and fortune and then the crash, while the second novel, The Prophesied Band, has the band recovering physically and psychologically on the road to recovering spiritually, which occurs in the second part of The Prodigal Band. In other words, as with the Gospel of Luke Chapter 15’s The Parable of the Prodigal Son about his fall, recovery, and then the journey home to his father, Battle of the Band is about the fall; The Prophesied Band is about the recovery; The Prodigal Band is about the journey home to redemption. And this journey to redemption was the point of it all, why I wrote this trilogy in the first place. But I also had to write the two previous novels to show and tell what the redemption meant and why the redemption was necessary. And the battles between Good vs. Evil as well.

It would certainly help if the reader read the first two novels to find out why redemption was necessary and the details about the battle between Good and Evil, to read about the crises and the beginnings of understanding what was necessary to see one’s was out of the morass the band members (and their women also) had put themselves into while reaching rock god status. But I will leave that up to the reader as to whether the reader wants to read the other two novels.

But The Prodigal Band has a redemption message, and it is in fact a FREE message that one can use FREE WILL to decide if one is to accept the message or not. I do not feel as if I need to ‘charge’ anyone a ‘fee’ so to speak to get this message, and I also think since it is a FREE WILL message it should be made available for FREE as a PDF download (since PDF files are easy to download and easy to add to one’s e-book device….just follow the instructions on the download page!). So while I won’t be earning money this way, that’s not what this ‘mission of God’ is all about, and besides, I’m doing fine financially, thanks to God’s blessings. Cheers!

And that is why The Prodigal Band is available as a FREE PDF download!

Parable from Luke 15: Prodigal Son Meets The Prodigal Band (Part Four)

We have come to the end of this sub-set of episodes of Biblical References snippets within The Prodigal Band Trilogy where The Prodigal Band meets the Prodigal Son (from Luke Chapter 15). Part One is here; Part Two is here, and Part Three is here. This Part Four finishes this set and is based on the verses from Luke 15: 20 until the end of the parable. Having spent his inheritance on reprobate living, then having spent it all until there was nothing left, the prodigal son is forced to eek out an existence feeding pigs, wishing he was back home and not literally starving while his father’s servants have plenty to eat. So he decides to return to his father as a ‘hired’ servant. From Luke 15, the Parable of the Prodigal Son:

{15:20} And he arose, and

came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his

father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his

neck, and kissed him. {15:21} And the son said unto him,

Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and

am no more worthy to be called thy son. {15:22} But the

father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put

[it] on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on [his]

feet: {15:23} And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill [it;]

and let us eat, and be merry: {15:24} For this my son was

dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they

began to be merry.

Parable from Luke 15: Prodigal Son Meets Prodigal Band (Part 3)

In Part One of this Prodigal Son meets Prodigal Band sub-series using Biblical References is recounted the ‘riotous living’ of the band using the talent ‘inheritance’ given to the six band members using their fame and fortunes. In Part Two is recounted their spiritual wastelands and empty lives of alcoholism, drug abuse and personal emptiness. In this Part Three, the prodigal band is coming to grips with the fact that they must turn their lives around and at the same time, spiritual forces of Good are aiding their efforts by giving them ‘missions of God’ beginning in Chapter Nine of The Prophesied Band. The spirit being known as the ‘witch of the Hovels,’ aka Morwenna in The Prodigal Band, tells them that The Tooters, God’s angels, will ‘reveal’ their missions ‘of God’ to them as they perform at the local trade and music festival in the middle of July, 2000. In Chapter Ten, their missions are given to them by The Tooters simultaneously as singer Erik holds the final note of a song for over one minute to end the festival.

Here are the verses that are being considered in this post from Luke 15: 18-20:

15:18: “I will arise and go to my father, and I will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before thee”

15:19: “And am no more worthy to be called they son: make me as one of thy hired servants.”

Verse 20 begins by saying ‘And he arose, and came to his father.’

But while they are willing to carry out their ‘missions,’ they would prefer not to ‘do missions on themselves’ so to speak. While their missions involve spreading the Good News about accepting Christ as Savior, they are not necessarily willing to accept Christ themselves. They believe they’ve been ‘too sinful’ and doubt they could even consider accepting Christ.  But that nagging feeling haunts them, knowing that not doing so while being “missionaries” makes them hypocrites. It is the commitment to ‘being hired’ by Christ that is standing in the way. Such that it will take a special nudge by spiritual Good to get them to choose to be ‘hired.’ This happens in the spiritual void they find themselves in Chapter Eleven of The Prodigal Band.

Snippets of The Prodigal Band Trilogy: “End Times” Scenarios (Not Including Corona Virus)

Folks, I just had to do a snippet post on what, for some, appears to remind them that what they think is the coming “end times” prophesied in various books of The Bible are in fact coming. The Bible does prophecy plagues in the “end times” and seemingly, for some, the constant mainstream media “news” about this Corona Virus “means” we are in these prophesied times. They can’t help it. Corona Virus is almost all that is on TV news these days. I have also noticed various YouTube preacher channels claiming we are heading into these “end times.” I will let the reader do this research themselves.

And then there are reports of hoarding toilet paper or fighting in stores over toilet paper. Some states are quarantining drivers from other states that have large numbers of Corona Virus victims just because–Texas, where I live, is one of those. In fact, far west Texas, which has no Corona Virus cases at all (except El Paso County), is doing the same “shelter in place” scenario that large cities are doing! Just because. The governor of Texas wants it, and the US government also wants it. And folks wonder why we might be living through an end time scenario.

And then you have “conspiracy theorists” (as called by those who would rather just “go along to get along” and to heck with freedom and the right of assembly enshrined in the Bill of Rights and Constitution) claiming what may be true or what may be overblown, that the government is setting up some authoritarian state what with all the panic, little by little. Some say it started with 9-11. Yet, in my opinion, little by little, it’s been going on for longer than that. When I began this trilogy in the 1990s we had “right wing patriot militia” types involved with activities bringing about what were called “standoffs”–Waco, Ruby Ridge and others. So these theories didn’t just start with 9-11. But because of these activities happening, I had to bring them up in my trilogy books, The Prophesied Band most of all. Which leads to the three snippets I will now post.

This Site’s Going World-Wide! And Character Snippets Coming Soon

Now I don’t know if I can get the first character snippet from The Prodigal Band Trilogy up by Friday…may have to wait until next Monday….Thanksgiving and all. The first character snippet is likely to be the ‘prodigal band’s’ frontman-singer named Erik. So that I have to find in the book one or two snippets about that character which will take me a couple of days. And, oh yeah, prep for Thanksgiving!

But I have been floored by my referral stats, especially the list of countries where folks have visited this site (along with the number of downloads of my FREE PDF novel The Prodigal Band.) The majority of visits come from the United States, my country. The number of visits from Europe is way up, especially from the UK where most of my character are from–naturally, we share the same language. Visits from Canada were big a few months ago but have fallen off some. Australia and New Zealand have sent some visitors and that number is increasing. A huge surprise is the number of visits from China. More than I would ever have expected. Even more from India; I know for a fact I have followers from India (or at least I think they are from India!) Japan and the Philippines are finally getting on the list, but the biggest surprise is that now Asian visits are from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore–all Muslim nations!

Having said that, I have gotten no visits from the Middle East that I can recollect. Could be due to language script writing (Arabic and Hebrew and Farsi in Iran) but then again I’ve had visits from Russia, which used Cyrillic script…. As for characters in China…

Africa? The biggest shock of all–Nigeria is to be expected. But Gabon? Eritrea? Sierra Leone? Liberia? And a few others I don’t remember. I’ve also gotten some from Caribbean nations, and Latin America. If I get any from the southern African nation of Botswana, I will go bonkers! I would love to go to Botswana and hear the Kalahari Bushmen speak–with clicks! I’d love to meet the actor who played !Xi in the “Gods Must Be Crazy” series set in Botswana. BTW, the ! in the name !Xi denotes the click-sound. Speaking with clicks? Fascinating!

Update 11:46 pm–I just got another visit from Indonesia!

Want More Views (and book sales)? Post Links to Your Sites in Comment Boxes!

Believe it or not, I have had many more referrals and clicks to this website, including referrals marked “Download FREE PDF e-book The Prodigal Band” from websites where I have posted comments with links to omegabooksnet.com or my free PDF e-book ‘The Prodigal Band’–meaning, if I post a link to this page or other pages including “bookstore’, I get referrals from these sites!

If one is discouraged by lack of referrals and views to their sites (or book sales), try this method if you haven’t already. Never be discouraged, a famous hymn says–‘Take it to the Lord on prayer.’

The Reality of Why I Wrote My Books–I Had To.

Divine inspiration–something!–caused me to go outside within the beauty of star-surging sky around midnight in the early 90s and receive a “message” to finally get those rock band characters out of my head and onto paper, and then computer. God? Angels? Spirits? Because it was not the devil or demons–the devil or demons would not want me to create a trilogy about a rock band fighting evil (and, after a miraculous event in 1997, accept Christ as Savior!).

Now my characters could not be goody-two-shoes-types or boys who could never do wrong or only sin occasionally. They could not be boys like we have out here in far west Texas that claim to strictly follow the Bible and wear jeans or regular pants and button-down shirts, having sisters and mothers that wear nothing but long skirts and their hair up in a knot…Mennonite, but not Mennonite. Folks, does a Christian writer have to write fiction only with “God-fearing” (or not) characters?
